Electronic catalogues are seen as standard within companies

Ever since they started using internet based tools for purchasing electronically, companies recognize a clear rise in profit. This mainly results from decreasing costs in processes and cost prices. A remarkable development within companies is that they tend to extend software solutions for electronic catalogues earlier and faster than other kinds of software solutions.

This is a conclusion the German Association of materials management, purchase and logistics (BME) makes after research of the survey "BME-barometer of public opinion of electronically purchase 2008" by the University of Würzburg. 119 companies were interviewed for the survey, in which 65 major enterprises with more than 2000 employees and 54 small and medium-sized businesses participated.

The majority of the respondents regard the electronic catalogue as a standard within the organization. 69 % of the respondents already use the electronic catalogue and 21 % are in the process of implementing this solution in the near future. Others have profound plans to integrating it in the future. Only 10 % have no intentions to use it in future. The most experience in this solution is still with the major enterprises (80 %), only 54 % of small and medium-sized businesses have an expert knowledge to this extent.
