Growth of Dutch online advertisement market subsides

Dutch companies have spent more on online advertisements in the first quarter, then in the same period last year. Still the growth in media expenses is decreasing.

During the first three months of this year, the net media expenses were 34,5 million. This is an 8,1 percent increase compared to the first quarter of 2007, the "IAB Nederland" announced. In the fourth quarter, the growth was still 13,6 percent. The institution arrives at a decision that the growth of online display expenses has shrunk.

Most of the online advertisement expenses (89 %) from the last quarter were done by buttons, banners and content integration. The rest consisted of display advertisements through search, e-mail, pop-ups and barters.

In the Netherlands the IAB announced to introduce a new method of registration this year, which will divide expenses in channel, expression and pay off models. They therewith hope to get more information and details about the behavior of Dutch companies with regard to media expenses.
