German companies note a strong increase in turnovers generated online.
The German Federal Association of Information Industry, Telecommunication and New Media (BITKOM) published percentages that depict that a quarter of all German companies already receive orders via the internet. This is an impressive 33% rise in just one year. BITKOM mentions that companies with more than 250 employees receive particularly high numbers of orders. Five years ago only 17% of those companies received internet orders, now it is 42%. Thanks to this enormous growth they now range on the third place after Denmark and Ireland within the European ranking list.
Medium-sized companies with 50 – 250 employees range on the sixths place with 29% of them having received internet orders in 2007.
German small enterprises that employ 10 - 49 people ranged on the same level. In 2003 only any twelfth small enterprise received internet orders. In 2007 this number rose to 23%. It is assumed that this amount might triple within the next years.
