Web analytics: measure, know, improve

Together we can take the four steps as listed below.

Define your online KPIs (key performance indicators)

The crucial part is to define what makes your website or online shop successful. How many visitors do you want to have on your site? How many products do you want to sell? You have to define your key performance indicators and decide how they can be made measurable.

Measure

After defining the KPIs, the analytics tool(s) have to be arranged, like Google Analytics or other data sources. The goals have to be set and funnels should be defined.

Know

The next step is to translate the data into clear, easily readable overviews. In these overviews, the KPIs should be well reflected. This is called the dashboard or scorecard.

Improve

The last step is to make improvements using your data. Therefore, a scorecard action plan should be made. The Google Web optimizer can be used to do A/B testing and define which plan leads to better KPI results.
